The Renaissance 1536-1660 was a flourishing time for Aalborg. Especially in Italy, the Renaissance started already in the 15th century.

It was a period with many new thoughts and ideas and in many ways the epoch, which created the basis of our modern society. For the population in a wide sense, however, the changes were slow, and many traditions and customs from medieval times were still used during Renaissance time as well.

In Aalborg, we meet the well-known merchants Jens Bang, Jørgen Olufsen and others. You can also watch Aalborg's original executioner's sword and many other fine items from this period.
