Aalborg Historiske Museum made in 2007-2008 one of the most comprehensive excavations ever in the centre of Aalborg. At Algade 9, under the well-known "Gavlhus" from 1574, one wooden house after the other was unearthed while the archaeologists dug their way through app. 4 metres of layers from the city's past. Well-preserved houses with baking ovens and wooden benches give us an exciting glance into the houses of the past, and numerous findings from the earth layers tell about the everyday of the citizens. It is extremely exciting that the birth of Aalborg now dates back to a trading post from app. 800. All this and much more can be seen in this exhibition. |
